Finlay joined forces with William Regal as loyal subjects of the newly renamed King Booker and his Court. Both men were later "knighted" by the King, and Finlay used the name Sir Finlay. Finlay defended the championship on several occasions, often with help from Little Bastard , and even defended it against fellow court member William Regal at The Great American Bash.
He lost the title to Mr. Kennedy on the September 1 edition of SmackDown! After the title loss, Finlay continued to attack and wrestle threats to court leader King Booker and his newly won World Heavyweight Championship , including Lashley and Batista.
Finlay defeated King Booker in a non-title singles match and lost in a four-way match at No Mercy for the title. After leaving the court, Finlay continued to feud with Batista. On the November 10 edition of SmackDown , he returned to fight Batista in a singles match which he lost after Batista pinned him following a Spinebuster.
He participated in the King of the Ring tournament where he got victorious against Chris Benoit in the first round. Hornswoggle Little Bastard used to attack his opponents. He faced Booker T in a non-title match where he turned victorious but lost at No Mercy in a four-way match for the title. His feud with Batista continued. His new feud began with The Boogeyman. On April 1, he appeared at WrestleMania 23 in a match won by Mr. Finlay also started having trouble with Kane.
On December 16, , he faced The Great Khali where he turned the winner following the interference by Hornswoggle. On January 27, , he was the number 27 entrant for the Royal Rumble but was disqualified as he entered before his time to save Hornswoggle from Big Daddy V and Henry.
